The Piedmont Boys are a traditional bluegrass band with a love for the old classics originally performed by names like Stanley, Monroe, Martin, and Osborne. Their repertoire features songs made popular during the rise of the bluegrass sound in the 1950s, ’60s, and ’70s.
At its heart, the band is simply a group of friends who love to jam together. Fiddler Jacob Turnbill and guitarist Ben Marshall recently stepped away from the road with touring bands Retro 78 and Iron Mountain to spend more time with their families. Banjo player extraordinaire Tom Cecil polished his talent as a member of the ETSU Bluegrass Pride Band. Multi-instrumentalist Jon Wolfe is bluegrass to the core, blending a style of show fiddling with mandolin tempo that is hard to beat. As the band likes to say about Jon: “A lot of ’em can’t do it!”
